After the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, an "agreement" was reached between the Uttar Pradesh government and the farmers in which the latter promised peace provided the formed brought the perpetrators of the Sunday violence to justice.

Now, farmers say that the Yogi government is not honestly implementing the terms of the agreement. The post-mortem reports of the farmers have not been given to their families, they allege. The copies they have received through the media do not mention bullet injuries.
