Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) veteran Ghulam Mohammad Jaula would travel across the country with the group’s founder Mahendra Singh Tikait in the 80s. He coined the slogan 'Har Har Mahadev, Allah Hu Akbar' in the past movement, a symbol of communal harmony.

However, in 2013, the Muzaffarnagar riots created a deep gulf between Jats and Muslims, which is now visible even after eight years. The Wire's Arfa Khanum Sherwani discusses with Jaula about the history of the slogan and how farmers have always been at the forefront of change.
