On Wednesday, February 3, students and activists gathered at Mandi House in New Delhi to express solidarity with farmers protesting at the borders of the capital.

The march, which was to be conducted from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar, was not allowed to proceed by Delhi Police. Prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 were clamped in the area.

The protesters eventually staged a sit-in protest for a few hours.

The Wire spoke to Kavita Krishnan, Secretary of the All India Progressive Women's Association, Kawalpreet Kaur, a prominent activist and lawyer, and Sucheta De, a student activist and former president of the JNU Students' Union.
