The Army Chief Turned Novelist: General Manoj Naravane Has Written a Military Thriller
It’s not every day that an Army Chief writes a novel. In fact, General Manoj Naravane is the first to have done so since independence 77 years ago. The book is called The Cantonment Conspiracy: A Military Thriller. It’s pacy and very readable. I finished it in one sitting.
The story unfolds at the regimental centre of the Sikh Rifles in Fatehpuri. At its centre are two key characters. Both are newly commissioned officers: Lieutenant Rohit Verma, a third generation army officer, and Lieutenant Renuka Khatri, the first woman to serve in an infantry regiment.
The book is set in the future. It’s about a series of events that happen sometime after June 2026. Watch the interview to find out more.
