The second phase of the protest by top wrestlers against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has almost completed a month, but the BJP is yet to face any action by police or the government.

Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad and his supporters recently accompanied the wrestlers to Bangla Sahib Gurudwara near Jantar Mantar and to Rajghat.

The Wire spoke to Aazad about the nature of this protest and the delay in action against Brij Bhushan Singh, despite the seriousness of the allegations against him. Azad replied: "It's been days and months and despite this, if a criminal is roaming freely, then it means that the government of this country, the state governments and all the agencies are useless and that the criminal has the protection of the government."

On allegations that the protest has become politicised, he said, "Bajrang [Punia] gave a very good answer to this yesterday when he said that we want big leaders of BJP, including Prime Minister Modi to come here and give us justice so that we can leave the protest site. So this fight is not about politics, it is a fight for justice."
