Watch: The Story Of Saleem, Who Saw Gujarat in 2002 and Delhi in 2020

February 24, 2023, marked three years of the communal riots in northeast Delhi. For a man from Shiv Vihar, the violence brought back a chapter he was all too familiar with.

Saleem Malik lives in a two-storey house in Shiv Vihar of northeast Delhi. The riots of 2020 was not the first time he was exposed to communal violence in India.

In 2002, during the riots in Gujarat, Malik was a tour driver driving through Palitana in the state with Mexican tourists.

Between the Gujarat riots of 2002 and the Delhi riots 2020, some things have remained the same. But a lot changed, including Malik himself.
