May 22-23 is the 34th anniversary of the massacre at Maliana village in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh and custodial murders during the Meerut riots.
On that day, the notorious Provincial Armed Police Force of Uttar Pradesh, widely known as PAC, picked up and killed 50 Muslim youths. On the next day, that is on May 23, 72 more Muslims were executed in the nearby Maliana village. To understand this whole issue, see this report.
