On February 8, violence erupted in Banbhoolpura, Uttarakhand, following the demolition of a madrasa and mosque deemed illegal by the government. The violence that followed resulted in numerous injuries and the loss of five lives. Currently, Banbhoolpura remains under complete lockdown, with residents prohibited from leaving the area. Police have thus far arrested 42 individuals in connection with the incident. Concerns arise regarding the well-being of those within Banbhoolpura, particularly regarding access to essential services such as electricity, food and medical care.
