West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee claimed on Monday 27 December that all the bank accounts of Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity have been frozen, although there is still controversy on this.
On Christmas day at various places in the country, churches were vandalised by Hindutva organisations, slogans of 'Jai Shri Ram' were raised amid church prayers, and an effigy of Santa was also burnt in Uttar Pradesh.
