Watch | 'Police Are Threatening to Abduct Us From Our Homes,' Say Jahangirpuri's Youth
In the aftermath of the communal clashes which took place in Delhi's Jahangirpuri on April 16 and the subsequent North Delhi Municipal Corporation-led demolition drive, the residents of Jahangirpuri's C-Block are living in constant fear of surveillance, harassment and even possible detention.
Amidst a continued presence of police forces, residents claim that an atmosphere of fear prevails as they allege beatings, abductions, and a general feeling of being held captive. What's more, the locals allege that all of this is being directed mainly at Muslims.
Another disturbing trend that is being observed is that locals are being sent to jail even for committing petty crimes, which are allegedly being used by security forces to further harass them and their families.
Sumedha Pal speaks to the residents of C-Block to hear what they have to say.
