On July 4, photos and Twitter handles of nearly 83 Muslim women were found on a GitHub app called Sulli Deals.
The creators of the app illegally collected photos of the women from their social media platforms, encouraged others to participate in their mock-auctioneering, and trolled the women afterwards.
The Delhi Police has registered an FIR and has stated that notices have been sent to GitHub to share the relevant details.
The Wire spoke to Hana Mohsin Khan, Noor Mahvish and Afreen Fatima, who had been featured on the now defunct app.
They describe how traumatic the event has been for them, what this incident symbolises for them as part of the Indian Muslim community and how they intend to fight for justice.
