On December 15, 2019, the students of Jamia Millia Islamia were allegedly attacked by the police. They were protesting against Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens.
Students were beaten up in the library and the library was also vandalised. On the completion of two years of this violence, this day was remembered in the Press Club of India as an attack on expression, a social movement and democracy.
