Monika Khangembam, a Manipuri woman who alleged racism by an immigration official at the Indira Gandhi International Airport recently, says she was harassed again when she returned to Delhi from Seoul. Her Facebook post narrating her ordeal went viral on social media following which external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted an apology. Khangembam met union minister of state Kiren Rijiju to enquire about the action being taken in her case and was assured that "strict action" in the form of a disciplinary warning was taken against the accused official. Rijiju also informed her that the accused officer has accepted that his tone "might have been rude" but "it was not intentional".

In an interview with The Wire, she narrates her story and raises the issue of everyday racism that Indians from the North East face. This video interview has been edited slightly for clarity.
