New Delhi: The US military said it shot down Iranian ballistic missiles and drones heading towards the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf Arab ally states on Friday (June 5). In response, the military claimed it struck Iran's surveillance sites in Qeshm island and Goruk on the southern coast. The exchange of strikes comes as US and Israel's war on Iran enters its day 99 on Saturday (June 6), amid mounting pressure to end the conflict.

US Central Command said on social media that Iran fired seven ballistic missiles towards Kuwait and Bahrain, with the US intercepting six of the missiles and the seventh failing to hit its target, as per AP reports.

The development follows Hezbollah's rejection of the latest ceasefire agreement, with continuing Israeli strikes claiming the lives of multiple civilians in southern Lebanon, fraying the already precarious ceasefire in the Gulf.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces shot and killed a seven-month-old Palestinian infant and injured his parents on Friday (June 5) near Hebron in the occupied West Bank, as Hamas representatives arrived in Cairo to discuss the first-phase of the US-brokered 'ceasefire' in Gaza.
