Former Palestinian minister of information and currently the secretary general of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Barghouti has said that continued silence by India in the wake of the resumed extensive Israeli airstrikes over Gaza, is “unacceptable”. Barghouti said the Indian and Palestinian people are friends and the Palestinians expect Indian support.

In a 14-minute interview, conducted hours after the airstrikes began in Gaza, Barghouti spoke critically of US President Donald Trump and the role of the US administration in supporting Israel. He says he believes that the conflict in the Middle East is likely to escalate. The Israeli foreign ministry spokesman has told the BBC, “From this point onwards Israel will act with increasing military intensity”.
