Jaishankar also said that India has not closed business with China and admitted that no country in the world can refuse doing business with the country.

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday (September 10) said that the Russia-Ukraine conflict cannot be resolved on the battlefield.

He added that Russia and Ukraine will have to negotiate and in case they want advice, India is always willing to give, reported The Hindu.

Jaishankar made the remarks while responding to questions at the Annual Ambassadors’ Conference of the German Foreign Office in Berlin.

A day before, he had held a conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers’ meeting in the Saudi capital.

“We don’t think this conflict is going to be resolved on the battlefield. At some stage, there’s going to be some negotiation. When there is a negotiation, the main parties – Russia and Ukraine – have to be at that negotiation. If you want advice, we are always willing to give it,” said Jaishankar, reported The Hindu.

Jaishankar also said that India has not closed business with China and admitted that no country in the world can refuse doing business with the country.

“We are not closed to business from China… It’s the second-largest economy in the world. It’s a premium manufacturer. So there’s nobody who can say, I won’t do business with China. I think the issue is, which sectors do you do business and on what terms? So, it’s far more complicated than a black and white binary answer,” reported The Indian Express.

In recent times, BJP leaders have made repeated false claims about Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘stopping the Russia-Ukraine war’ to evacuate Indian students which have later been debunked after fact checking.
