New Delhi: US President Donald Trump once again reiterated on Saturday (June 21) that he stopped a war between India and Pakistan.

This is the second instance since June 17 – when Prime Minister Narendra Modi denied claims of American mediation in halting hostilities between India and Pakistan – that Trump has again made the claims.

“This is a Great Day for Africa and, quite frankly, a Great Day for the World! I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for this, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between India and Pakistan…” Trump wrote on his Truth Social about a post on the US mediating a treaty between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda.

Earlier, on June 18, Responding to a reporter’s question on his upcoming lunch with Pakistan’s army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, Trump had said on Wednesday (June 18) morning, “Well, I stopped a war … I love Pakistan. I think Modi is a fantastic man. I spoke to him last night. We’re going to make a trade deal with Modi of India, but I stopped the war between Pakistan and India.”

Despite foreign secretary Vikram Misri, who stated on June 17 that Modi had used the telephonic conversation with Trump to directly reject the latter’s version of events regarding the tension between India and Pakistan at the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, Trump has continued to claim that he “stopped the war between India and Pakistan.”

“Prime Minister Modi clearly conveyed to President Trump that at no point during this entire sequence of events [during Operation Sindoor] was there any discussion, at any level, on an India-US trade deal, or any proposal for a mediation by the US between India and Pakistan,” Misri said on June 17 in Calgary.
