New Delhi: The US has cautioned Indian manufacturers against exporting items including defence equipment to Russia amid the country’s ongoing war with Ukraine.

The consideration that such exports from India could support the Russian missile system has led to the US government communicating its message with Indian manufacturers, reported Business Standard.

“US officials are leading consultation and sensitisation meetings with the industry to raise awareness about avoiding the export of specific products such as chemicals, aeronautical parts, and components that could be used in missile systems,” said a senior government official.

The official added that while the items exported to Russia are of dual use, they are not included in the categories of the Special Chemicals or Organisms, reported Business Standard.

Earlier this year, US President Joe Biden announced a new air defence system for Kyiv and urged unity against Russian President Vladimir Putin, who launched the Ukraine invasion in 2022.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had thanked Ukraine’s backers for the promise of new air defences – and urged the United States and others to go further to help defeat Russia.
