From biscuits and groceries to soaps and detergents, everything has become expensive. While Indian consumers bear the brunt of rising inflation, some leaders and ministers of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have made strange statements on the issue.

A BJP minister in Madhya Pradesh blamed Jawaharlal Nehru's 1947 speech for rising inflation in the country. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said that free vaccination is why inflation has been on the rise in the country.
