'Minister Has Blamed Everybody, Except Himself': Rahul, Akhilesh Team Up, Attack Pradhan Over NEET

The issue is that there are millions of students in this country who are extremely concerned at what is going on and who are convinced that the Indian examination system is a fraud, said Gandhi.

New Delhi: Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav teamed up on Monday (July 22) to launch a scathing attack on the BJP government in the parliament over the issue of question paper leaks and alleged irregularities in NEET.

“This is not just a question of NEET, it is in all the major examinations. Now, the minister has blamed everybody, except himself,” said Gandhi, targeting Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Yadav went a step ahead and said that as long as Pradhan remained on his post, the aggrieved students cannot expect to get justice.

“I want to ask the minister that will he release the centre-wise list of students who have scored the most (in NEET)? When there are 30,000 seats, there are several centres where 2,000-2,500 students have passed. There are some centres from where students have scored 600-650 marks. If those institutions were so credible, did the minister try to know about the infrastructure of these centres?” Yadav said in the Lok Sabha on July 22.

In response, Education Minister Pradhan asked Yadav about the incidents of question paper leak in Uttar Pradesh when the former was in power.

Leader of Opposition Gandhi said it’s obvious to the whole country that there is a very big problem with the education system.

“The issue is that there are millions of students in this country who are extremely concerned at what is going on and who are convinced that the Indian examination system is a fraud. That is what is at stake here. Millions of people believe that if you are rich and if you have money, you can buy the Indian examination system and this is the same feeling that the people in the opposition have,” said Gandhi.

Gandhi asked the government that what is it doing to resolve this issue at a systemic level.
