Union Govt Hikes Price of Domestic LPG by Rs 29 Per Cylinder, Second Increase in Three Months
New Delhi: The Union government has hiked the price of domestic cooking liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs 29 per cylinder. As a result, the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder, which earlier used to cost Rs 913, will now cost Rs 942 to domestic consumers from June 7, 2026, reported Press Trust of India.
The latest hike is the second such increase in domestic LPG price in three months. On March 7, domestic LPG price was hiked by Rs 60 per cylinder in wake of the West Asia crisis.
Domestic cooking gas LPG price has been raised by Rs 29 per cylinder, marking the second increase in three months as state-owned fuel retailers continue to grapple with elevated global energy costs.
The price of a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder in Delhi will rise to Rs 942 from Rs 913 with effect from June 7, according to industry sources.
The increase follows a Rs 60-per-cylinder hike on March 7 after the conflict in West Asia disrupted global energy supplies and drove up international fuel prices.
While this is the second hike in domestic LPG price, the price of commercial cylinder has been hiked multiple times, resulting in difficulties for many street food vendors.
On April 1, commercial cylinder prices were hiked by Rs 195.50, and Rs 114.50 prior to that on March 1.
On May 1, the Union government increased the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by the steepest revision so far, with a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder, commonly used by hotels and restaurants, being hiked by a record Rs 993. This is a more than 40% increase over the April prices. Cumulatively, the prices of commercial LPG cylinders have gone up by a massive Rs 1,303 in three months.
After the latest price hike, 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 942 in Delhi, Rs 941.50 in Mumbai, Rs 994 in Hyderabad, Rs 968 in Kolkata and Rs 944.50 in Bengaluru, reported Mint.
