After 12 days, the 30th Conference of Parties on climate change – or COP30 – wrapped up on Saturday, November 22, at Belém in Brazil. A major fire broke out at the venue on November 20th. Fortunately, no one was hurt, though 13 people had to be treated for smoke inhalation. The venue was closed down for a few hours and this stalled negotiations temporarily.
