The final part of this film series by Care Earth Trust and Society for Conservation Biology looks at solutions that empower the women and children of villages to take up work other than fishing in the Gulf of Mannar. Several eco-development committees have been set up to operate on micro-credit loans. They encourage and help women to become breadwinners. There is also an intense amount of advocacy and outreach being conducted by the younger generation in an attempt to bring awareness to the issue of conservation. In conversation with some of these youngsters, the filmmakers find that a few are already training in and looking forward to careers other than fishing – from teaching to the coast guard to adventure sports.
