On Sunday, February 6, the Nanda Devi glacier at Joshimath, Uttarakhand broke, causing a massive flood in the Dhauliganga river. The flood damaged the NTPC’s Tapovan Vishnugadh hydropower project and swept away several workers present on the site.
As of February 10, the death toll stands at 32. About 203 people have been declared missing and rescue operations by the armed forces are still underway.
