Watch | Kajol Trolled For ‘Uneducated Politician’ Remark, Later Clarifies

Kajol neither mentioned any specific political leader nor any political party. Even after that, several Twitter accounts which are known for their pro-government stand and right-wing ideology felt it was a taunt on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Recently, in an interview, Bollywood star Kajol made a remark that landed her in trouble on social media. Kajol said in the interview: “We have political leaders who do not have an educational background.”

Kajol neither mentioned any specific political leader nor any political party. Even after that, several Twitter accounts which are known for their pro-government stand and right-wing ideology felt it was a taunt on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has often been targeted by his opponents about his college degree.

Some Twitter accounts started pointing out that Kajol dropped out of school. Others even dragged Kajol’s husband, actor Ajay Devgn, into the discussion for promoting pan masala through advertisements.

Subsequently, Kajol issued a clarification. “I was merely making a point about education and its importance. My intention was not to demean any political leaders, we have some great leaders who are guiding the country on the right path,” said Kajol.

Several women politicians also extended support to Kajol on Twitter, including Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi and Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate.
