New Delhi: Four men were arrested from Ambala in Haryana on Saturday, July 1, in connection with the attack on Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad. Aazad was shot at on June 28 in Uttar Pradesh's Deoband, sustaining a bullet wound to his abdomen.
According to Hindustan Times, the arrests were made by the Ambala unit of Haryana's Special Task Force in coordination with the Uttar Pradesh Police. Three of the accused, Vikas, Prashant and Lovish, are from Saharanpur. The fourth accused, also named Vikas, is from Haryana's Karnal. They have been handed over to the UP Police, the newspaper reported.
The Uttar Pradesh police have registered an attempt to murder case for the incident.
On Thursday, Aazad demanded Yogi Adityanath's resignation on grounds of moral responsibility. “The fatal attack on me is the failure of the government because the security of the people of the state is the government’s responsibility. Accepting the moral responsibility of giving protection to fearless criminals in the state, the Chief Minister should resign with immediate effect,” he said.
