New Delhi: With eight more days left for people to file claims and objections to the draft electoral roll of Bihar published after the special intensive revision (SIR), the Election Commission on Sunday (August 24) said that the documents of 98.2% electors have already been received.

The EC said that the claims and objections period has given an opportunity to the electors to not only correct mistakes in the draft rolls, but also submit their requisite documents which may not have been provided while submitting enumeration forms, reported Press Trust of India.

"As per information received from the office of CEO Bihar, till date documents of 98.2 per cent electors have been received," said the EC.

It added that from June 24 to August 24, in 60 days, 98.2% persons have submitted their documents.

"This means an average of about 1.64 per cent per day. There are still eight days to go till September 1 with just 1.8 per cent electors remaining for submission of the documents," said the EC.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had asked the EC to accept Aadhaar or any of the 11 listed documents from people who want to be included in the voters list. In its order, the court directed the ECI to display the list of around 65 lakh voters whose names appear in voter list of 2025 but are not included in draft list, on the website of every district electoral officers (district-wise). While the info will be booth-wise but it should be accessed by referring to the EPIC number of voter.

The Election Commission has asked the Supreme Court to repose faith in it for carrying out the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar.
