The war resulting from the US and Israel’s attacks on Iran entered day 48 on Thursday (April 16). Amid the unabating attacks on Lebanon by Israel US president Donald Trump has announced that Israeli and Lebanese leaders will hold direct talks, the first such instance in 34 years.

Meanwhile, Pakistan army chief Asim Munir has travelled to Tehran to discuss with Iranian officials the possibility of fresh talks with the US. Both the US and Iran had failed to reach an agreement after the first round of talks.
