Voting will take place at 13,033 polling stations across 2,697 locations in the national capital territory of Delhi.

“We are going to be a nation of 1 billion voters soon,” Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said in the press conference.

Speaking on reports regarding wrongful additions and deletions in electoral rolls, the CEC said that “it is a perfect system” and that “there is no scope of a deletion” if the processes are duly completed.

“Doubts are being created in the minds of public,” he said.

In 2020, election dates were announced on January 6, polling was held on February 8, and votes were counted on February 11.

The national capital is expected to witness a tough fight between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the main opposition, BJP. Meanwhile, the Congress is also in the fray.

Campaigning has begun with the BJP playing up corruption charges against the AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who is expecting to win another term as the chief minister.

Meanwhile, AAP has said that it will ditch massive rallies to return to the padyatras (foot marches) to highlight its Aam Aadmi image, which won the party its first term.
