New Delhi: The Delhi government has cancelled the tender for the renovation of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s official residence.
According to official documents, the tender was cancelled citing administrative reasons, reported Press Trust of India.
The cancelled tender worth Rs. 60 lakh pertained to proposed installations at Gupta’s residence, including 14 air conditioners, televisions and electrical fixtures.
Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had slammed the BJP and accused it of hypocrisy and extravagance. It had drawn parallels between the renovation of Gupta’s bungalow and the fact that the BJP had previously attacked AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal over his bungalow when he was the Chief Minister, reported The Tribune.
“The BJP always claimed to live simply and questioned the lifestyle of leaders from other parties. But now we’re getting reliable information that the CM is likely to be allotted two adjoining bungalows -- 1/8 and 2/8 Raj Niwas Marg, each with 15 rooms. Renovation orders have already been issued,” AAP MLA Anil Jha has said in a press conference last month, reported PTI.
This is where Delhi will now be governed from – a 'maya mahal'. The same BJP leaders who used to attack Arvind Kejriwal for spending are now silent,” he had said.
