New Delhi: State government employees have demanded that the Maharashtra government fulfils the promises that the BJP-led Mahayuti made before the assembly elections last year.
The employees have demanded that the state government fulfils these promises – including a hike in the dearness allowance (DA) along with arrears at par with central government employees and also implementing the old pension scheme (OPS) for all staffers – through the budget, reported The Times of India.
“From July 1, 2024, DA increased from 50% to 53%. Also, a 3% increase in dearness allowance has been proposed from Jan 2025 by the Centre. [It has been] the prevailing policy of the state govt to give DA increases like the Centre,” said a letter written by the Maharashtra State Gazetted Officers’ Federation in a letter written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.
The Federation said that almost 35 per cent of the total sanctioned 7.17 lakh posts were vacant and also demanded that the retirement age be made 60 years for state government employees.
