New Delhi: The coach who has accused Haryana minister Sandeep Singh of sexual harassment has claimed that state chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar was attempting to influence the investigation and that she was being pressured to remain silent.

On December 31, 2022, Chandigarh police had booked state sports minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Singh on charges of sexual harassment and wrongful confinement after her complaint. Singh denied the allegations but resigned as sports minister. However, he continues to remain minister of the stationery and printing department.

On Wednesday, January 4, the woman spoke to reporters after appearing before the Chandigarh Police’s special investigation team.

“I have told the SIT everything in detail. I have also  pending issues

When a reporter asks her why Sandeep Singh himself is not summoned yet, she says she has asked for him to be summoned.

“The Haryana chief minister is trying to entirely influence the investigation. This morning itself I saw an interview of his and he is being very straight there. Now it is very clear that he is influencing the investigation,” she is heard saying in a video.

The news agency ANI has reported on her talk with reporters and quoted her as having said, “I am being pressurised to be silent.”

The woman claimed that she has been getting calls offering her Rs 1 crore to leave the country. Haryana Police, too, she said was pressuring her. Chandigarh Police have not exerted any such pressure, she said.

The woman’s advocate also alleged that while she has been summoned four times, Sandeep Singh himself has not been summoned once.

Singh was hockey captain of India.
