'No Info About His Health,' Sonam Wangchuk's Wife Gitanjali Angmo Moves Supreme Court
New Delhi: Jailed activist Sonam Wangchuk's wife Gitanjali J. Angmo has approached the Supreme Court with a habeas corpus petition against the noted environmentalist's detention
"It is one week today. Still I have no information about Sonam Wangchuk’s health, the condition he is in nor the grounds of detention," Angmo posted on the morning of October 3.

The plea was filed through advocate Sarvam Ritam Khare on October 2. It is not clear when the plea will be heard as the court is on vacation for Dussehra.
Angmo had on October 1 written to President Droupadi Murmu demanding Wangchuk’s unconditional release. In the letter, she decried her husband’s “illegal detention” and the “witch-hunt” she said he has been subjected to over the last four years.
“I am completely unaware about my husband’s condition. I was also told the officer would explain to me my legal rights. Even that has not been done till today. I am shocked and devastated,” she wrote.
Wangchuk was detained from Leh in Ladakh on September 26 under the National Security Act, and is understood to be jailed in Jodhpur, Rajasthan – over 1,500 kilometres from Leh.
The arrest took place after protests broke out after a peaceful fast by Wangchuk and others, leading to violence and the death of four in security forces' firing. The Union home ministry has sought to blame Wangchuk for the violence. Ladakhis had been protesting for special constitutional provisions for a while now.
