M.K. Venu, the founding editor of The Wire, in conversation with Praveen Chakravarty, chairman of the Professionals’ Congress & Data Analytics wing of the Congress, speaks on the interesting echoes of the Congress manifesto, in the latest Budget.

The Congress party’s manifesto was a top-of-the-mind subject with the prime minister during his bitter campaign for the general elections earlier this year. Discerning an impact of the Congress manifesto in NDA 3.0’s budget, Congress’ Praveen Chakravarty said imitation is the best form of flattery, but he wishes other important things had also been taken.

This borrowing from the manifesto is the power of democracy, Chakravarty said.
