As India records the biggest daily COVID-19 case spikes across the world, the country's medical infrastructure has staggered to keep up. In the last 24 hours, there have been nearly 3 lakh new cases of COVID-19 and 2,771 deaths.

In an interview to The Wire's Seraj Ali, Dr. Jitendra Padhariya, a pathologist with SRL Diagnostics in Gujarat, describes the medical crisis.

"We did nothing about the medical infrastructure," he says, recounting the developments in tackling the virus over the last year.
