In an interview with The Wire's Founding Editor M.K. Venu, Professor Santosh Mehrotra asserted that the current delimitation exercise violates the spirit of an earlier constitutional amendment which sought to reward demographic performance by states. The opposition parties cannot accept the bill in its current state, he said, adding that the constitution amendment cannot go through without their vote for the bills.
