Lucknow-based social activist Zainab Siddiqui's father was arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on charges of involvement in the violence against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). Along with her 52-year-old father, the ATS also took into custody her minor brother.

Zainab's mother alleges that "goons" (men in civil dress) grabbed her husband while he was returning home after evening prayers, and verbally abused her and her daughters.

Asma Izaat, an advocate, said that the local police had refused to provide information about the reasons for the alleged arrest. They also allegedly misbehaved with her.
