Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a Ram Mandir to be built in Ayodhya, where the Babri Masjid once stood. The Supreme Court, while resolving the decades-old land dispute last year, cleared the way for the temple’s construction. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat were also present at the bhoomi pujan ceremony.
On the other hand, on the same day last year, August 5, 2019, the Central Government read down Article 370 of the constitution. Jammu and Kashmir was also divided into two union territories.
