In an interview to discuss and analyse the first phase of the nationwide special intensive revision of electoral rolls which started on October 28, Yogendra Yadav says it is "an exercise of citizenship determination by the back door" and will lead to "systematic large-scale exclusion".

In a 30-minute interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Yadav says "the Election Commission hasn't learnt the lessons it should have. An exercise which was a thoughtless exercise of mass disenfranchisement has now been refined into a weapon of targeted exclusion."

Yadav believes that the SIR exercise is "illegal and unconstitutional", a mater which he has, in fact, taken to the Supreme Court and is at present being heard there. He agrees the nationwide process, which begins today, is seriously flawed and politically coloured.
