New Delhi: In the wake of a woman contractual staffer alleging that West Bengal governor C.V. Ananda Bose had molested her, the Raj Bhavan on Thursday, May 9 showed the CCTV footage of the premises from May 2 (day of the incident). The woman alleged that the footage which was shown to around 100 people was released without her permission and revealed her face.

“The footage was released without my permission. The law of the land says that the identity of the complainant should be kept confidential. He (Governor Bose) should be charged for this too. If he is innocent, why is he not letting the police conduct an investigation? I will speak to the police about this,” The Indian Express quoted the woman as saying.

She added: “What has he proved through this CCTV footage? He just revealed my identity. I know that the kind of position he is in, he will never be punished. He knows what he has done to me. I am ready for all types of tests.”

As per the IE report, the footage which was shown includes recordings from two cameras in front of the north gate of the Raj Bhavan.

On May 8, the Raj Bhavan had said that “any citizen of West Bengal except (chief minister) Mamata Banerjee and her police” can register to watch the CCTV footage the next morning i.e. on May 9.

As per the report, Raj Bhavan sources confirmed that 75 people from Kolkata, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar in north Bengal had called and registered to watch the footage. Further, sources told the daily that a call was received from Burdwan and many people had also enrolled through email.

Commenting on the development, West Bengal finance minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said, “What was there in the footage is what we already know. It shows the woman entering the Raj Bhavan and then she goes to the room of the OC (office in-charge), and this is exactly what the woman said. The video corroborates her statement. Nothing else,” IE reported.
