Over 13,000 people contracted the novel coronavirus in the last 24-hours. This is the highest single-day spike in the number of cases in India. With this, a total of 3,67,120 cases have been recorded in the country. India's last recorded single-day spike was reported four days ago on June 14. The number of fatalities has crossed the 12,000-mark.

After Aam Aadmi Party’s MLA and national spokesperson Atishi tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to wish her speedy recovery. Delhi’s health minister Satyendar Jain who was tested for COVID-19 again on Wednesday also tested positive.

Globally, at least 8,155,266 people have been infected with the virus while 441,505 fatalities have been recorded and 3,945,763 people have recovered. The US, which is the worst-hit country, has 2,137,707 infections so far with 1,16,962 deaths. Meanwhile, Beijing officials reported 31 new confirmed infections in the region.
