New Delhi: A fire in the trauma care unit of the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha's Cuttack city this morning (March 16) has killed 10 patients. Reports say at least 11 hospital workers who were trying to rescue patients are injured.

The fire broke out around 2:30 am to 3 am at a ward where critically ill patients were being treated.

Rescue operations are ongoing.

“A total of 23 patients have been shifted to other departments. Seven serious patients died while shifting to other ICUs and wards, while another three persons died later,” Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi was quoted by PTI as having said while visiting the hospital.
