New Delhi: A case was filed against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Mahesh Landge along with 60 others for violating COVID-19 protocols after a video of them celebrating at his daughter’s pre-wedding function surfaced online, news reports said.
Landge is a legislator from Pimpri-Chinchwad in Pune, and also president of BJP’s Pimpri Chinchwad City unit.
A case was registered against Landge and others late Monday in Bhosari police station under Pimpri Chinchwad jurisdiction, under various provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, Disaster Management Act and section 188 of the Indian Penal Code for disobeying orders by public servant.

A police official told Indian Express that the ceremony was organised on Sunday evening on the premises of Landge’s house in Landge Aali area of Bhosari.
A video of the ceremony surfaced on Monday following which the police launched a probe.
The police official said that various social distancing norms, mask rules and the limit on the number of people who can gather were violated. As per COVID-19 protocols, only 25 persons are allowed at any function or gathering.
