"We did nothing about medical infrastructure," Dr. Jitendra Padhariya says, recounting the developments in tackling the virus over the last year.

As India records the biggest daily COVID-19 case spikes across the world, the country’s medical infrastructure has staggered to keep up. In the last 24 hours, there have been nearly 3 lakh new cases of COVID-19 and 2,771 deaths.

In an interview to The Wire’s Seraj Ali, Dr. Jitendra Padhariya, a pathologist with SRL Diagnostics in Gujarat, describes the medical crisis.

“We did nothing about the medical infrastructure,” he says, recounting the developments in tackling the virus over the last year.

Padhariya also sheds light on the usage of Remdesivir for COVID-19 and the need for CT Scans along with RT-PCR tests.
