On May 30, Sunday, 1,65, 553 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from across the country. Continuing with the dip in the case positivity rate, the nationwide positivity rate on Sunday stood at 8.02%.

The Delhi high court posted a hearing on the increasing number of black fungus cases to Friday. It sought a report from the Centre on steps being taken to address the rising number of cases. It also directed the Centre to seriously consider waiving off the duty on the import of amphotericin B, the drug being used for the treatment of black fungus.

In other news, doctors across the country have decided to hold a protest and observe June 1 as a 'black day' against the comments made by Baba Ramdev for dismissing allopathic medicine as "stupid science". They demanded Ramdev to issue an unconditional apology to the nation for making uncalled for statements during a raging pandemic.

Meanwhile, the ministry of AYUSH has decided to distribute ayurvedic drugs – AYUSH 64 and Kabasura Kudineer – across the country to out-of-hospital COVID-19 patients, raising objections from several doctors who dispute the efficacy of the drugs in fighting Coronavirus.

These and many other developments and issues relating to COVID-19 will be discussed in today's episode of the COVID Bulletin.
