On Friday morning, India’s daily increase in coronavirus cases crossed 96,000. With this, the country's tally of confirmed cases rose to 45,62,414. The death toll is 76,271.

According to the health ministry, 943,480 cases are still active, while 35,42,663 people have been cured or discharged or have migrated.

On August 7, India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark. On August 23, it crossed 30 lakh.
