Claiming a shortage of antiretroviral drugs, HIV patients have been protesting since July 21 outside the National Aids Control Organisation in Delhi.
The protesters say that drugs such as dolutegravir – a relatively new medicine that reduces viral load rapidly — lopinavir and ritonavir — which are used for first and second-line treatment — are in acute shortage. They say the drugs haven’t been available for almost six months.
