India reported more than 300,000 new COVID-19 cases for the fifth consecutive day, according to the Union health ministry bulletin on Monday morning. The death toll surged to 489,848 with 439 new fatalities.

According to health ministry data, a total of 243,495 people recovered in the last 24 hours.
