“The RBI recently published a detailed report on employment. As per the report, around eight crore new jobs were created in the last three-four years. This figure has silenced those those spreading fake narratives on jobs,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Mumbai recently.

Venu, labour economist Santosh Mehrotra says the RBI-sponsored research showing a big surge in employment in recent years, including during COVID-19 years, has no credibility. It is just another narrative to hide the real mess in the economy where the problem of joblessness remains acute as reflected in the recent elections.
