Last week, 44 bonded labourers, originally from Chhattisgarh were released from Haryana’s Palwal district. They included five pregnant women and some minors.

The release took place following efforts by the Human Rights Law Network, Action Aid and the National Campaign Committee for Irradiation of Bonded Labour.

On February 20, the labourers had demonstrated at Jantar Mantar in Delhi for their rehabilitation and emancipation certificates. The Wire’s Santoshi Markam talks to them on their experiences.
